diversity is one of our great strengths

Dear Tom Rogers,

Immigration isn't just a political issue. It’s an issue about who we are as a country.

As Hillary Clinton proclaimed last weekend, “Our diversity is one of our great strengths, and part of the obvious argument for immigration reform is that we are a country of immigrants, and we should be celebrating that rather than fearing it.”

I am the child of immigrants. My father came to the United States to pursue a graduate degree, and my mother joined him here to start a family.

But because of our outdated immigration laws, too many people are denied the same opportunities. It’s unconscionable that in this age of creativity and innovation, we prevent some of the best minds from coming to the United States, break families apart, and force people to live in the shadows.

Thanks to President Obama and lawmakers who are determined to fix this problem and put America’s undocumented immigrants on an earned path to citizenship, there is a real hope for progress.

Will you stand with Hillary Clinton today and demand that Congress pass comprehensive immigration reform?

Just as Hillary stepped forward this weekend, we all need to make our voices heard.

From her time in high school, when she worked with a church group to babysit the children of migrant workers in Illinois, all the way up to her time as Secretary of State, Hillary has recognized that the diversity of ethnic communities in our country is “one of our great assets that we were undervaluing.”

Join us and stand with Hillary. Click here to tell Congress to pass comprehensive immigration reform.

Thank you for all your help,

Alissa Ko
Deputy Director, Ready for Hillary
